YMCA of Harrison County Receives Grant from Community Foundation of Crawford County to Support Youth Pickleball Clinic at Elementary Schools
The YMCA of Harrison County is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Crawford County. This funding will be instrumental in launching a Youth Pickleball Clinic at local elementary schools in Crawford County. The program is aimed at promoting physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young students. This clinic will serve East Crawford Elementary, South Crawford Elementary and West Crawford Elementary for 3rd – 5th graders.
The Youth Pickleball Clinic will introduce elementary school students to the exciting and rapidly growing sport of pickleball. Combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, pickleball is easy to learn, fun to play, and provides an excellent way for kids to stay active and develop important life skills. Students will learn the basic rules and techniques of pickleball in a fun and engaging environment. The clinic will encourage physical activity, helping students improve their fitness levels and overall health. Through interactive drills and games, participants will develop teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship skills. The clinic is designed to be accessible to all students, regardless of their prior experience with sports.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Community Foundation of Crawford County for their support,” said Emily Siler, Chief Operating Officer at the YMCA of Harrison County. “This grant will enable us to bring the joy and benefits of pickleball to young students in our community, fostering a love for physical activity and healthy living.”
The Youth Pickleball Clinic is scheduled to take place in spring of 2024. The YMCA of Harrison County will provide all necessary equipment and experienced instructors to ensure a positive and enriching experience for all participants.
