COVID19 CLOSURE INFORMATION

May 5, 2020 UPDATED COVID-19 CLOSURE INFORMATION

May 5, 2020

Dear Y Family,

It is with much excitement we announce we will be reopening on Sunday, May 24! Our Sunday hours are noon – 5 pm.

With our reopening date being the day before Memorial Day, a day we are normally closed, this year we will be open on Memorial Day from 5 am – noon.

We cannot thank you enough for your patience, love, and support during this time.

For those who paid the May membership fee, we’ll be applying a credit for the 23 days closed in May on your July membership fee. Alternatively, you may still place your membership on hold for $10 per month. This keeps your membership current and would avoid any new joining fees. If your membership is already on hold for May, no further action is necessary.

During our closure, we are still providing childcare for essential workers and emergency personnel. For more information on this, please contact melliott@ymcaharrison.org.

Please continue to follow our social media pages for at-home workouts, uplifting messages, community resources, and recipes. We’ll also be posting our May and June schedules, some upcoming program information, as well as restrictions and precautions we’ll be taking upon reopening.

As a reminder, our social media pages are:

Thank you for allowing us to serve you and the community. We are greatly looking forward to returning our full services.

April 19, 2020 UPDATED COVID-19 CLOSURE INFORMATION

April 19, 2020

Dear Y Family,

Closure for any length of time represents a significant threat to our non-profit organization. We cannot express the potentially devastating impact extensive cancellations could have. We know the Y is an extension of your family and we remain honored and committed to serving you, just as we have served for the last 19 years.

Due to another extension of the stay at home order, our newest tentative reopening date is now Friday, May 1. All members also have a choice regarding their membership. Whatever you choose, we thank you for your support and understanding.

Choice 1: You can consider April’s membership dues a donation to the Y. If this is your choice – THANK YOU! As a non-profit organization, your membership fee during our closure will be eligible as a tax write off. Our tax ID # is 35-2122124. We’ll be happy to provide you a donation letter confirming your gift. Due to the CARES Act, people who itemize their tax deductions will be able to deduct 100% of their cash donations. BRAND NEW FOR 2020: Non-Itemizers can claim an “above the line” deduction of up to $300.

Choice 2: You can place your membership on hold for $10 each month. This keeps your membership current and would avoid any new joining fees. If your membership is already on hold for April or May, no further action is necessary.

Choice 3: Those who paid the April membership fee in full can receive a 50% credit of the April membership fee on their May membership fee and the remaining 50% credit of the April membership fee on their June membership fee.

What we will do: We will automatically complete Choice 3 for you, unless you’d like to utilize one of the other choices. To let us know an alternative choice preference, please email us at contactus@ymcaharrison.org, via social media inboxes, or by leaving a voicemail at 812.734.0770. Messages will be checked and returned as quickly as possible.

We are still providing childcare for essential workers and emergency personnel. For more information on this, please contact melliott@ymcaharrison.org.

These are uncertain, perilous times for the Y and all community organizations. As we pivot our services for the safety of the community, we hope that you will continue to invest in your membership so that we can maintain vital life-changing and life-saving programs at the Y. We know your membership is meaningful to you and that meaning lies in the relationships you have built at the Y. Those relationships are based upon how much you care about our community and want everyone to have the opportunity to thrive – no matter what our world is facing.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you and the community. Please take care of yourself and one another. Our community is strong, and together, we will get through this. We greatly miss everyone and look forward to reopening as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

The Staff and Board of Directors of the YMCA of Harrison County

April 3, 2020 UPDATED COVID-19 CLOSURE INFORMATION

Dear Y Family,
With the announcement by the Governor of Indiana today, our new tentative date of reopening is Tuesday, April 21. We greatly appreciate your patience with this ever changing situation.
You probably already noticed the April 1 draft of the April membership fee. With this new tentative date of reopening on April 21, we will still apply a credit to the May membership fee based on the number of days closed in April. It’s more important than ever to live our YMCA mission of serving and strengthening our communities. All of us at the Y are grateful for the outpouring of support many of you have expressed. We are committed to doing everything possible to secure the future of the YMCA, and all its services, as these uncertain times continue.
Alternatively, you may still place your membership on hold for April for $10 in lieu of the membership fee. Should you wish to do this, please notify us via email, contactus@ymcaharrison.org, or by calling 812.734.0770. If your membership is already set to be on hold, no action is needed.
We hope you are enjoying our offerings virtually through social media. Be sure to share with us what you are doing during this time. Our social media pages are:

Should there be any changes to this new tentative opening date, we will be notifying the community via email, social media, and text alerts.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We greatly miss everyone! We are praying you and your family are doing well and look forward to seeing you at the Y again tentatively on Tuesday, April 21.
Sincerely,
The YMCA of Harrison County Board of Directors

March 28, 2020 UPDATED COVID-19 CLOSURE INFORMATION

Dear Y Family,

Thank you for your patience and grace as we communicate changes to our facility and programs. It’s been a complicated time for everyone, and we greatly appreciate you bearing with us. Our new tentative date of reopening is Monday, April 6.

Right now, we’re asking you to stay with us, if you can. The Y may be closed but our mission is not. This coming week will be different than any other week we’ve had before. While there will be no seniors connecting over coffee, relationships being built during group exercise classes, or people achieving their goals in the Wellness Center, we will still be serving our community – as a child care center for our first responders and health care personnel as they fight on the front lines of this pandemic. And by continuing to pay your membership fee, you will allow us to maintain the financial resources needed to focus our time, people, and energies to where our community needs it most.

At this time the April fee will draft on April 1, as scheduled. When we are able to re-open, we will apply a credit to the May membership fee based on the number of days closed in April. As you know, the Y is a non-profit charitable operation. Having to temporarily close our building puts us in a challenging position and we are concerned about our ability, as a Y, to continue to serve and come out on the other side of this in a position to help the community we cherish.

Alternatively, you may place your membership on hold for April for $10 in lieu of the membership fee. Should you wish to do this, please notify us before April 1 via email, contactus@ymcaharrison.org, or by calling 812.734.0770. If your membership is already set to be on hold, no action is needed.

We will still be bringing some of our offerings virtually through social media as well as community resources and services you can utilize to help your family. So continue to follow us on Instagram (ymca_harrison_county) and Facebook www.facebook.com/YMCAofHarrisonCounty/).

Should there be any changes to this new tentative opening date, we will be notifying the community via email, social media, and text alerts.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We know you are dealing with all the same things we are and we are thankful to have you with us, even if just in spirit. Now we will be ready to welcome tiny humans whose parents are working crazy hours and are looking for some sense of normalcy. We will keep them safe and engaged while their parents fight to save lives.

We wish you and your family continued health and safety during this time and look forward to seeing you at the Y again tentatively on Monday, April 6.

Sincerely,

The YMCA of Harrison County Board of Directors

March 18, 2020 COVID-19 CLOSURE INFORMATION

Dear YMCA Family,

Due to a mandated closure of businesses, the YMCA of Harrison County will tentatively be closed starting at 6 p.m. today, March 18 to March 30, 2020. This is subject to change based on the requirements of the county Health Department.

It has been a challenging week of change for all of us. We also know that the programs we run are important for our members and participants, and they contribute to making the community a better place.

In lieu of a shutdown week in August, the Y will be using this 10-day closure to conduct deep sanitizing cleaning and repairs as well as draining our Lap Pool to replace the lane targets. We will also be bringing some of our offerings to members virtually through social media. When you can’t come to the Y, we will do our best to bring the Y to you! Be sure to follow us on Instagram (ymca_harrison_county) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/YMCAofHarrisonCounty/) and stay connected to your community.

In an effort to help keep things as normal as possible for the many individuals we employ, we will be supporting our staff who help us achieve our mission each day during this closure. We ask that you please keep your membership active so that we can keep our community together and vibrant during these significant challenges.

Should there be any changes to the closing dates or regarding the status of any programming, we will be notifying the community via social media and text alerts.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions. During this time we can be reached via email at contactus@ymcaharrison.org, our social media inboxes, or by leaving a voicemail at 812.734.0770. Messages will be checked and returned as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your support, understanding, and for allowing us to serve you and the community. We wish you and your family health and safety during this time and look forward to seeing you at the Y again, tentatively, on Monday, March 30.

Sincerely,

The Staff and Board of Directors of the YMCA of Harrison County

One week in August, the Y shuts down to do deep cleaning, make repairs, complete contract work, paint, and anything else that we cannot easily do with members on the building. DIRECTIONS:

  • Take I-64 to Exit 105, Corydon. Go South on Hwy. 135.
  • At the 2nd traffic light, turn Left onto Old Hwy. IN 135 NW / Hwy. 337 South. This will take you towards downtown Corydon.
  • Follow Hwy. 337 South approx. 1 mile until you see “Shanghai Chinese Restaurant” and “State Farm” on the Left.  Turn between these two businesses onto Foundation Way.
  • Proceed one-tenth of a mile, and then turn/curve right onto Jenkins Court. At this point the YMCA of Harrison County complex will be visible on your left.
What school delays and closings mean for Y programs and classes:

If South Harrison Community School Corporation (SHCSC) is on a delay or closed due to inclement weather, all YMCA of Harrison County programs and classes that begin before noon will not run.

All programs and class schedules will resume at noon.

However, our facility and Kids’ Zone will open and operate their normal schedules regardless of a delay or school closing by SHCSC.

Paid programs that begin before noon will be rescheduled.

If inclement weather takes place on the weekend or if there is an early dismissal by SHCSC, our facility and Kids’ Zone will still be open as scheduled. However, the running of programs and classes will be decided on a case-by-case situation.

Check local TV stations (11 and Fox 41) for up-to-the-minute opening and closing information. You can also sign-up for Fox 41 text alerts.
